I heard a story on the radio last night, and I really can't decide how I feel about it. Apparently, a couple days ago some guy who called in (we'll call him Guy) suspected his girlfriend (Girl) of cheating on him. Every night at 9:30, Girl leaves to "go to the gym". Except, at least a few times over the past week or so, she's forgotten to even bring her gym bag. So, the DJ (Ty or someone else even more annoying) told Guy to hide his iPhone in Girl's purse (or car, or whatever) and call in the next night so they could track it on air. Last night Guy calls in while Girl is "at the gym", tracks the phone, and Girl is in some residential neighborhood in Naperville.

Here's the issue: is the fact that having an iPhone now gives everyone a really easy way to track someone that great of an idea? On the one hand, awesome. You can always find your phone if you leave it at a bar or something. Plus, spy stuff! But on the other hand, thinking about all of the ways this feature can be abused is a little scary. How many ex-boyfriends or stalkers will be able to use this to find out where someone lives? Or, how many people in the same scenario as the Guy above will take the situation to the next level, go to that house in Naperville, and end up hurting someone?

Any thoughts?
