This is actually kind of a cool customization to gmail that prevents you from sending a mass email to someone that you usually don't email. In other words, if I was sending an email chain to my softball team and I typed Ryan and a different Ryan accidently was put into the email chain, gmail would now warn me. They do this by checking your previous email groups to see if that person was in in before. The article does a much better job of explaining by the way.
