Please no more lies.

Lizzie on 7-2-2009 @11:13 AM
Per the top TV episodes link: I'm sick of people talking about how great the Scrubs musical episode was. It was a good episode, but it was also a blatant buffy ripoff--at least put in a footnote or something, you know? hrumph

Uh oh, Billy may not be your friend anymore after that comment.

Work & Vacation @11:51 PM

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up that I probably won't be updating the site all the much the rest of the month. I leave for a long vacation on Monday. I'll be in Mexico from Monday - Monday so I probably won't be online all that much. I'm also trying to wrap up a couple work projects before I leave so I'll be working day and night all week (except for my softball games). I might try to put up some links throughout the rest of the week -- just don't expect much.

How Spicy. Where are you going in Mexico? I thought you told me that you and Lizzie wanted to go to Sandals Jamaica?

The great one on 6-16-2009 @9:43 AM
slacker.

Jim on 6-16-2009 @12:30 AM
Only if Michael and Jan are there...haha. Anyway, the wedding is in San Miguel. I've never even been to Mexico so I have no idea what to expect. They rented a house for a week, though...so that should be sweet.

MarcelDurden on 6-16-2009 @1:3 PM
Mexico sucks, have fun with lil high school girls running everywhere (I know Foley would). I did hear that you can get rides home from downtown Cancun to your hotel on the back of a Papa Johns Pizza Delivery scooter though, thats pretty sweet.

MarcelDurden on 6-16-2009 @1:4 PM
P.S. It's Mexico not Mexica, mexico would probably be pretty pissed you gave him a girl ending

Corey on 6-16-2009 @1:8 PM
Wedding? Did I not get an invite?

Jim on 6-16-2009 @3:19 PM
@Mark: fixed spelling mixed. @Corey: not to Lizzie's sister's wedding. Sorry.

Jim on 6-16-2009 @5:24 PM
mistake* wow...

Weekend Updates @12:1 AM
  • Derrick Rose Reacts To Gang Sign Photos.
  • The Cubs look like they might be pursuing Pedro Martinez.
  • New Moon's Kristen Stewart in character for her role playing Joan Jett.
  • Good news for iPhone users in Chicago, the CTA has approved AT&T to become the fourth wireless service in CTA subways.
  • This is actually pretty badass. Project Natal is a new gaming technology that lets you control the video game with your body...literally no controllers at all. It was showcased on the Jimmy Fallon Show. Check it out.
  • Another somewhat interesting game is this beatboxing application for the iPhone. Not that big of a deal, but still kind of cool.
  • I kind of want this.
  • For Mac users, this little Google widget is pretty nice.
  • Another iPhone App, this one is called Get Home. Very useful for drunk noobs.
  • Check out this hilarious clip from The Daily Show.
  • There's already been a lot of controversy surrounding Derrick Rose this off-season -- but there's more. Photos of him flashing gang signs have been posted around the internet. I guess I just don't really see what the big deal is. I mean, he grew up in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Chicago. It's not like he grew up in a nice, little suburban town. The media needs to get over this type of stuff. On a side note, coming back from my office the other day I drove through Englewood in the middle of the day (around 3PM), and I gotta say, I've never been more nervous driving my car in the daytime. Granted, it was basically rush-hour, school just got let out, and I was in stand-still traffic going through Englewood for about 25-30 minutes. I was less nervous when I accidently had to drive through Cabrini-Green at night one time.
  • Here's a story about this season's True Blood.
  • Uh oh, apparently watching TV before you go to sleep is bad for you...

ok that Daily Show clip is super funny.... (three cheers for journalism...)

the great one on 6-13-2009 @1:10 PM
Ill have to check out the videos later. I think having one of your superstars possibly being affiliated with gangs is a bit of a concern.

Jim on 6-13-2009 @1:34 PM
I didn't mean for it to sound like I was saying that I don't care if he's actually in a gang. I would definitely care if he was affiliated with gangs. I meant that him flashing a gang sign doesn't really mean much to me because I absolutely don't think he involved with that kind of stuff...my comment about him growing up in a bad neighborhood just meant that it isn't surprising if he knows gang signs.

Wednesday Updates @12:25 AM

Not a lot going on recently with links, unfortunately. We have our first LVille DBag softball game tonight -- assuming it doesn't get rained out. Top Chef Masters premieres tonight, super pumped about that. And True Blood starts up again this weekend, finally. If I get some better links by tonight I'll try to post them.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-cta-11-jun11,0,33216.story Get on it. Joe, great win last night. Let's keep the runs and the butt slapping going. I iced my shoulder and should be good for next week.
